Sugar Creek Advisory Board
The Montgomery County Building department enforces the Sugar Creek Ordinance which regulates land usage along Sugar Creek.
The jurisdictional area begins at creek mile 56.2 to creek mile 22.3 including all of Sugar Creek in the county and the strip of land along each side. The ordinary high water mark and a line paralleling the ordinary high water mark define the jurisdiction. The line paralleling the top of the ordinary high water mark is determined by measuring horizontally 75 feet. The purpose of this regulation is to preserve the natural scenic value of the creek and to reduce further development in the Sugar Creek corridor, as well as protect citizens of the county form the adverse affects of flooding. For more information see the Sugar Creek Ordinance.
