Voter Registration

Requirements to vote in the state of Indiana: 

  • You are a Citizen of the United States;

  • You will be 18 years of age by the time of the next general election;

  • You will have been a resident of your precinct for 30 days before the election and you are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime.

Anyone wishing to vote MUST give their 10-digit Indiana Driver's License number or if you do not have an Indiana Driver's License, you may give the last four digits of your social security number. 

DEADLINES & IMPORTANT DATES

  • The deadline to register to vote is 29 days before an election.

  • Registration begins 30 days after an election

 

Absentee Voting

To Qualify for Absentee Voting, you must meet any of the following requirements:

  • You expect to be absent from your country on Election Day (6am - 6pm)

  • You have a disability. 

  • You are at least 65 years old. 

  • You have official election duties outside your precinct. 

  • You are scheduled to work during the entire time polls are open.

  • You are confined due to illness/injury or caring for someone who is. 

  • You are prevented from voting due to religious discipline or holiday. 

  • You are a participant in the address confidentiality program. 

  • You are a member of the military or a public safety officer. 

  • You are a “serious sex offender” as defined by law. 

  • You lack transportation to the polls. 

To Sign up for Absentee Voting:

You must file an application (ABS-Mail form) for the election you want to vote absentee. The Application must be received by the County Clerk no later than 11:59 PM, 12 days before the election.

You can also contact our office at 765-364-6430 to pick up an absentee form or have it mailed to you! 

Travel Board

Travel board is an option for those with disabilities, are homebound, or confined to a senior living. Vote by Traveling Board by filling out an absentee ballot application indicating you would like to have a travel board come to your residence to vote your ballot. You can also call our office at 765-364-6430 and a travel board can be arranged. The Traveling Board supervisor will call and schedule a time for their visit.

Interested in helping your county and your country on Election day? Elections would be impossible without the hardworking Hoosier volunteers that help run the process. 

To be eligible to be a poll worker, you must be a resident of Montgomery County and registered to vote.
